Cool video games in 2011 proved to be a great year for the fans, and while there were a ton of memorable titles released last year, most would agree that The Elder Scrolls V – Skyrim was the one that rules them all. It took cool video games to all new levels, and raised the bar for the games that would have to follow it. There were other awesome video games – Modern Warfare 3, Deus Ex 3, and Gears Of War 3 – that came close, and it’s going to be interesting to see what 2012 has in store for gamers. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated games of the coming year.
There certainly looks to be some cool video games on the horizon, not to mention a little something for everyone. So, in no particular order, here are the ones that video games fans seem to be drooling over the most.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is somewhat strange in that it is a sequel to a sequel, and will abandon the linear gameplay of the previous versions in favor of a more random level of gameplay. It’s also thought that the storyline will be a little darker than the rest.
Movie franchises undergo re-boots all the time, and now one of the classic, cool video games of all time is getting the same treatment. Expect to see Twisted Metal on the shelves sometime in February.
Another re-boot, although one that may not be as recognizable as Twisted Metal, is Syndicate, which will be a first person shooter than many are saying looks like a cross between Crysis and Deus Ex.
Cool video games aren’t just limited to all the popular gaming consoles, and more players are actually taking their awesome video games to the mobile platform. Those guys are sure to be excited about Drake going mobile in Uncharted : Golden Abyss, which is said to look incredible.
There is a ton of buzz about the upcoming Mass Effect 3, which is set to be the final chapter in the series. The game will have a ton of cool little add-ons, but perhaps none as exciting as the game being tailored to you in that the story will hinge on decisions you version of Shepard made in the previous two.
Anyone who spends any amount of time on the internet will tell you that Minecraft leads the list of cool video games found online. Xbox 360 players will be able to get their hands on a Kinetic supported version later this year, to see what all the fuss is about.
Those are just a few of the cool videos that are expected to hit the shelves of your favorite game store this coming year, but there are tons more still in development. So many cool video games, in fact that you might want to start exercising your thumbs, as well as saving some money so that you can get your hands on them all.
